Miller Energy Brings WMRU-2 Well On-Line in Alaska
Miller Energy Resources, Inc. has reported that its WMRU-2 Sidetrack (WMRU-2B) well has been completed and was successfully brought online on June 7, 2014.
After clearing the well of drilling fluids from the sidetrack, a subsequent well test showed an initial seven day average production rate (IP) of approximately 630 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd), with a water cut of 63%.
David Hall, Miller's Chief Operating Officer, commented: "WMRU-2B has increased the WMRU field wide production by over 50% and the IP rate is substantially above what we originally anticipated. Furthermore, given the initial strong reservoir pressure, we think WMRU-2B will continue to exceed our original assessment as it stabilizes."
WMRU-2B was sidetracked at approximately 7,000 feet, from the unused, non-producing WMRU-2A wellbore, to reduce drilling costs. WMRU-2A had been shut in from December 24, 2001. WMRU-2B was drilled to a final measured depth of 14,470 feet with the Patterson 191 drilling rig. The rig has since been mobilized to the West Foreland gas pad, where the Company has spudded the WF-3 gas well, drilled to approximately 8,200 feet, installed casing and cemented in place. The planned final depth is approximately 13,500 feet with the Tyonek gas sands being the primary target.
