This Week Sees Flurry of Deals
This was a very busy week for deal flow. Notable items include:
- Joint Venture: Devon found a partner in DOW Chemical to develop the STACK play. Expect a rig or two at the end of 1Q20.
- Joint Venture: A DJ Basin E&P picked up capital from a private equity firm to develop a 64 well program.
- Property: Laredo Petroleum made a deal for some additional Glasscock County, TX acreage as the company moves toward oilier targets.
- Property: Bonavista acquired a Central Alberta property for $53MM. Production associated with the asset is 8.3Mboe/d.
- Corporate Merger: This week, a private equity firm said it is buying an Oklahoma-focused E&P for $200 million.
- Property: Talos upped the ante in the GOM, inking a $640MM deal for assets.
Company Formations / Start-Ups
No new companies were formed this week, but several newcomers have debuted this year.
Year to date, 21 new companies/management teams have been formed, including:
- Six (6) companies will be focused on the Permian
- Two (2) companies will be focused on the Ark-La-Tex Region
