Rig Count / Drilling Activity Week Ending - June 09, 2018
This week in rig activity. Operators continue to increase rig count.
Activity by Play (click on each play name to get operator details)
Permian Basin up by +3 rigs to end the week at 444 rigs.
Eagle Ford finally breaks the 100 rig, the play is up +4 rigs.
Haynesville Shale up by +2 rigs to end the week at 63
Niobrara/DJ Basin up by +4 to end the week at 22
Barnett Shale is steady at 5 rigs.
Powder River Basin added one rig to close the week at 18 rigs.
Granite Wash/Cleveland/Western Anadarko Basin is up 4 rigs this week.
SCOOP/STACK saw no changes this week, to end the week at 111 rigs.
Marcellus Shale added one rig this week.
Utica Shale - no rigs added, ended the week at 20 rigs.
Activity By Operators
Eagle Ford Drilling Activity : 105 rigs
Private companies Cinco oil & gas, Hat Creek Energy, BBL Operating among others have brought out rigs for the first time this year in line with the increasing oil price.
Eagle Ford Top Operators By Rig Count
The chart above shows that oil price increase almost mirrors that of the eagle ford rig count rise.
EOG Resources leads the pack with 14 active rigs and the next closes operator is Sanchez Energy with 8 rigs. ConocoPhillps who is running six rigs which is an increase of 2 rigs from last year, comes in third place.
Granite Wash/Cleveland Drilling Activity
The play has added the most rig since the begining of the year. This week saw operators adding 4 rigs. The most active operator being FourPoint Energy who is running 6 rigs added 1 rig this week.
Haynesville Shale Drilling Activity
The Haynesville Continues to add rigs. XTO Energy the top operating added one rig to close the week at 8 rigs. Private Equity-backed RockCliff and Vine Oil & Gas both added 1 rig each this week as well.
