Rig Count: Horizontal Rigs Down by -1; Vertical Drop by -5
This week, U.S. rig counts declined by -2 overall, while Canada posted a gain of +1. In April 2016, the International market lost -39.
This week, horizontal rigs declined by -1 to 314 while vertical rig counts lost -5, ending at 48.
Two plays posted gains this week. The Permian added +3 rigs (137 total) and the DJ Basin / Niobrara added +1 (13 total).
For the U.S., the total year-over-year (YOY) rig count drop is now at -481. The current active rig count in the U.S. is 404.
Canada's rig count increased by +1. The country's rig count has fallen by -28 rigs YOY with 44 rigs currently active.
On the International front, rig counts dropped by -39 in April of this 2016, with 946 rigs currently active (a loss of -256 YOY).
