Crude Oil Spill Closes 65-Mile Stretch of Mississippi River

A barge spilled an undetermined amount of crude oil after colliding with a towboat between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, according to multiple media outlets.
The spill caused a sixty-five mile stretch of the river to be closed on the 22nd. The river remains closed as officials meet to estimate the size of the spill as well as facilitate cleanup operations.
According to reports, the nearby water supply remains safe.
