Spectra Secures $3B in Expansion Projects; Talks Q2

Spectra Energy Corp. reported 2013 second quarter net income from controlling interests of $199 million, or $0.30 diluted EPS, compared with $215 million, or $0.33 diluted EPS, in the prior year quarter.

Greg Ebel, President and CEO, Spectra Energy Corp., commented: "Spectra Energy's earnings for the quarter were in line with the company's expectations, but more importantly, we have secured $3 billion of new expansion projects so far this year. Spectra Energy is in the midst of a major capital expansion program with $25 billion in growth opportunities through the end of the decade. That growth is the catalyst to advance our master limited partnership strategy which will efficiently fund growth and enhance Spectra Energy's dividend growth.
